Hey gang, I'm back for another year of doing kind and charitable acts. This year I'm turning 46, and so I'll go for 46 days, starting October 1st. But I'll be doing things a little differently this year.
If you know me well, you know I have been through quite a lot since last year. My life has been completely turned upside-down, shaken, jumbled, and reassembled into something completely different. I've sold a house and a car, bought a house and a car, moved twice, my kids have switched school districts. I lost my mom to lung cancer. I've gotten married, and added two step-children to my life. And that's the very high-level view, with some stuff left out for privacy reasons. The details are even more chaotic than it sounds.
I could not have gotten through it if not for the help of many friends and family members, and I still don't know how to thank all the people who have stepped up.
Meanwhile, my birthday is here again, which means it's time for me to pay it back. Or pay it forward, if you prefer. But here's the thing: My life is full. Very full. This is a good thing for the most part, but there's a certain pressure that can come with this project, and I'm not sure I'm up for adding too much more to my plate at the moment.
On the other hand, this project always makes my world a little better in a whole range of ways, so I'm going to compromise. I'm not going to be posting daily updates this year. I'm not going to be participating in some of the larger scale activities I've done in past years, like multiple 5k races and day-long volunteer events. But I am still going to do something, somewhere, for someone, every day for 46 days. I may or may not post occasional updates, but you won't be hearing from me on a daily basis. Probably. :)
Meanwhile, on with the good stuff. Feel free to send me your suggestions!
